Recognition and generative-AI(GPT) to facilitate EFL writing in authentic contexts

摘要

Abstract

Most studies of EFL writing usually used grammar checking to help check writing errors. However, it is not enough since EFL learners have to learn how to create more meaningful content, particularly using their surroundings in authentic contexts. Therefore, we develop one app, Smart RoamLingo, with recognition technology (ITR and STR)  to provide lexical resource from authentic pictures and generative-AI(GPT) to provide meaningful vocabularies and sentences, then inspire EFL learners to write more.  The results revealed that the learners with ITR-texts had a significant difference in the learning behaviors like revision and post-test. Furthermore, they could also write more meaningful sentences in the assignments. Therefore, UEnglish with ITR-texts and Smart QAC could facilitate their EFL writing in authentic contexts.

居住在台灣的日台雙語者的身份認同-從認知優勢感(epistemic primacy)的觀點来看

摘要

Abstract

       本演講旨在討論出生於台日跨國婚姻家庭並居住在台灣的青少年的身份認同,內容為使用定位理論(positioning theory)

進行敘事分析所得的結果。分析結果顯示,在日台雙語者中,有些青少年能夠與同學和睦相處並享受校園生活,但也有些青少年無法與周圍的人建立良好的人際關係。造成這些差異的因素有很多,其中之一為有無對於日語的認知優勢。在本演講中,我將指出認知優勢可能會造成人際互動間的距離乃至於歧視,我也會介紹一些個案(case study),說明有無認知優勢會大大影響一個人能否與周遭的台灣人和睦相處。
